Have you been in a choir before Roath Community Chorus? No.
Why you love being a member of Roath Community Chorus? I like to get up on a Saturday and think I’m going to have a great time for 2 hours singing with the choir. The best thing about the choir is the friendship, the concerts, the places we have been and of course our wonderful Music Director who always managed to get the best sound out of us, even if it is at the last minute!
What has been your favourite piece of music you’ve sung with Roath Community Chorus? I really enjoyed our concert of Les Miserable music – it suited the choir and the buzz from singing it was amazing. But I also liked singing madrigals, such as Fine Knacks for Ladies – inspirational of Ben Pinnow (Musical Director) to get us to sing that one!
What is your favourite memory of Roath Community Chorus? I think my first trip to Croatia, which was out of this world, especially the part where we got into a freezing sea and sang – well some of us anyway!
What does Roath Community Chorus mean? Inclusive, fun, challenging times, modern.

How long have you been a member of Roath Community Chorus? 3 years, including Saturday morning zoom sessions through Covid 19 pandemic period.
What voice type are you? Bass.
Have you been in a choir before Roath Community Chorus? Yes, in parish choirs in Portsmouth, England up to 1966, and in Cardiff from 1981 with the UHW (Heath) choir, Cardiff Philharmonic, Sargent Christmas choir (34 annual performances) and by invitation with Brecon Singers.
Why you love being a member of Roath Community Chorus? The Chorus is a good mix of singers and is a local amateur choir. Ben Pinnow (Musical Director) conducts four part versions of popular music which is not demanding in itself.
What has been your favourite piece of music you’ve sung with Roath Community Chorus? ‘If ye love me’ by Thomas Tallis.
What is your favourite memory of Roath Community Chorus? Performing Christmas music.
What does Roath Community Chorus mean? Weekly enjoyment.
